Field note
Who provides Codebookery?
Codebookery is the name of this product and of the seller shown in the terms. The name was checked against live businesses, app stores, code hosts and domain registries before release, and it is not affiliated with any other company or product.
How the name was chosen
Codebookery is a coined word for a studio that turns a dataset into a codebook readers can use. Before release it was searched against company registers, app stores, code hosts and the .app and .com domain registries so that it does not collide with an existing product.
No affiliation
Codebookery is not affiliated with, endorsed by or derived from any other company, standard or software. Any resemblance to another name is accidental. If you believe the name conflicts with a mark you hold, write to the support address and it will be reviewed.
Support and identity
The seller, support address and jurisdiction for this product are stated on the terms and support pages. Those pages, not this one, are the record for any question about who provides the product.
Worked example from the sample project
Codebookery is a coined word: a codebook and the place where codebooks are made. It reads as a documentation studio rather than a data tool, which is the distinction the product cares about, and it is short enough to say out loud in a handoff meeting.
Before release the name was checked against live businesses, app-store listings, code hosts and domain registries, and no conflicting product was found. That is a diligence record, not a legal opinion, and it is why this page exists rather than a claim of exclusivity.
What this does not do
- The name checks were a search of public sources, not a registered-mark clearance in any jurisdiction.
- Absence from a search result is evidence, not proof, that a name is free.
- The name implies no affiliation with, or endorsement by, any standards body, repository or agency.
Do this in the studio
Judge the software by the workflow rather than by the name on the door.
- Open the studio and work the sample project end to end.
- Decide whether the folio and edition model fits your documentation practice.
- Read the terms and support pages for who provides the product.
